About Anna

Anna became a Social Worker so she could continue doing what she loved to do and this passion has turned into over ten successful years in her field and expansion to other areas of expertise, namely Mediation and Certified Life/Co-Parenting Coach.

Anna’s passion for helping others started at a very young age. Her family arrived to Canada in 1978 with no job prospects, no money and very little fluency in the English language or knowledge of the Canadian culture. With the limited resources that were available to new immigrants, the family struggled. Anna always tried her best to help by translating and locating resources to assist the family in any way she could. It was during those times that she fell in love with helping others, making meaningful connections and listening to other people’s stories.

Anna felt drawn to Mediation as a natural result of some conflict she was experiencing in her life. She knew there had to be a better way to take part in difficult conversations – a way that both parties could feel that they were valued and heard without explosions of anger and escalating conflict. She discovered Learning Interest Based Mediation and knew it was exactly what she needed – a way to learn important communication skills to help ease the conflict in her own situation and also to teach others how to ease the conflict in their own lives. Now certified as a Qualified Mediator and Negotiator, she is able to assist families, small businesses, groups and even communities that are experiencing conflict or are struggling with communication or making difficult decisions.

She became a Certified Life & Co-Parent coach as an adjunct to her Mediation practice and the two certifications give her the tools and skills help her clients reach their highest potential and reach high levels of fulfillment in their relationships.

She brings a natural compassion, curiosity, positivity and focus to her clients and looks forward to hearing their stories, listening to their concerns and ultimately assisting them in achieving their goals.

Anna Cortes-Mittal is a good standing member of the Appropriate Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta, ADR Institute of Canada, and Alberta College of Social Workers. She adheres to the high Codes of Conduct and Ethics in her practice.
